Quincy, IL 62301 Terra
cotta colored plastic rain barrels are made from imported Grecian pepper barrels
which were originally received in this country filled with delicious golden
Greek peppers. The terra cotta rain barrels are 39" tall with a 23" diameter and
hold approximately 60 Gallons.
The plastic rain barrels are made from re-cycled food grade barrels.
These plastic recycled barrels have traveled many thousands of miles, and even
though we have thoroughly cleaned them inside and out, and applied several coats
of a UV polish, they may still have some small scratches and scrapes. This
should be considered as part of the "character" of the Grecian rain barrels.
The rain barrels have a screw on perforated top with inside screen mesh to keep
out debris, bugs, pets and children, three top overflow male hose connections, a
brass spigot, and a bottom drain plug. The overflow fittings allow excess water
to be diverted into a second barrel (or third, or fourth or fifth etc.), or by
attaching a hose, excess water can be diverted to any remote area such as a
garden or flower bed.
The brass spigot is shipped inside the barrel and will need to be screwed into
the pre-installed plastic fitting by the customer. The brass spigot can be
interchanged with the bottom drain plug if desired.

If you would like to see a rain barrel,
we have one at our office at
338 South 36th Street
in
Quincy.
Stop by any time , Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, to
look at it.

RECOMMENDED STOCKING RATES
CHANNEL CATFISH -
100 to 200 per acre without feeding, or up to 2000 per acre if feeding. When
feeding, one needs to feed 100 lbs. of floating feed per 100 fish per year.
LARGEMOUTH BASS – 50 to100 per acre.
HYBRID
SUNFISH – 500 to
1000 per acre. Hybrids are 93% male. Largemouth bass should be stocked with the
hybrids. The bass will not grow very fast, but will prevent the survival of the
few offspring by the hybrids.
BLUEGILL – 500 to1000 per acre. Bluegill can take the place of hybrid
sunfish. Bluegill will result in better bass growth, but may overpopulate and
fail to produce cacheable bluegill. (Stock at ½ rate with redear.)
REDEAR – 500 to 1000 per acre. Stock with bluegill for better bass
growth. Redear are a bottom feeder and difficult to catch. (Stock at ½ rate with
bluegill.)
BLACK CRAPPIE – 100 to 200 per acre. Recommended for lakes of 20 acres or
more. They tend to overpopulate in smaller ponds.
TRIPLOID GRASS CARP – 5 to10 per acre for weed control, based on aquatic
weed growth. A permit is required for grass carp – the hatchery will take care
of this for you. If grass carp do not completely control vegetation in 2 years,
one needs to stock more.
